Waterloo, Iowa.- The Willmar Stingers defeated the Waterloo Bucks on Thursday in large part to a masterful pitching performance.

Matt Ornelas (Nova Southeastern) got the win for Willmar. Ornelas went six shutout innings, allowing just five hits and striking out two.

Offensively Willmar got their runs in the fifth and sixth innings. In the fifth Sebastian Samuels (Montevallo) crushed an RBI double off of the left field wall. In the sixth Shea Kramer (Utah) got an RBI with a sacrifice fly to right.

Willmar’s bullpen was solid, compiling three shutout innings between Braxton Johns (Georgia Southern) and Nick Mears (Sac City). Mears got a six out save for Willmar.

Willmar travels to Mankato to take on the MoonDogs tomorrow night.
