Bismarck, N.D.- On Sunday the Willmar Stingers rode a five run first inning to victory against the Bismarck Larks.

In the first inning the Stingers broke it open, plating five runs and going up early 5-0. Willmar was aided by RBI knocks from Eli Wilson (Minnesota), Davis Elliot (Northern Alabama) and Jaxon Hallmark (Nebraska).

Willmar got a very solid start from Corey Binger (MSU Mankato). Binger went seven stellar innings, striking out four and only allowing five base hits.

In the ninth with the Stingers leading 5-1 things got interesting. The Larks were able to score three runs off of Willmar relievers and had the tying run 90-feet away, when Manager Bo Henning made the call to bring Jayson Newman (Cal-State Northridge) in for the save for a second consecutive night. Newman came in and got a one out save getting Jacob Nesbit (Arkansas) to ground out and end the game.

The final score was 5-4.

This truly was an offensive showing with both teams combining for 23 hits.

Willmar will play the Larks in Bismarck tomorrow night at 7:05.
