Willmar, Minn.- The Willmar Stingers returned to Bill Taunton Stadium after a brief two game road trip in Bismarck to take on the Rochester Honkers on Tuesday Night.

Willmar took an early lead in the third inning. Jaxon Hallmark (Nebraska) started the inning with a double and came around to score on a wild pitch out of the hand of Honkers starter Cole Quintanilla (Texas).

Rochester ended up taking a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning. The Stingers responded instantly tying the game up at one in the bottom half of the sixth inning off of the bat of Caleb Ricca (Northwestern State). Ricca grounded into a double play allowing Eli Wilson (Minnesota) to score.

Willmar scored runs in both the seventh and eighth inning going up 4-2 heading into the ninth. The run in the seventh came on a wild pitch strikeout and an error on the Honkers, allowing Matt Rudick (San Diego St) to score. In the eighth Rudick drove in Hallmark on an RBI double down the left field line. Matt Rudick ended the night as the CDI player of the night going 3-5.

In the ninth things got interesting. Willmar allowed the first two men to reach base and it was runners at second and third with nobody out. Bo Henning went to the pen and brought in Ben Mora (Cal Poly Pomona). Mora was outstanding striking out three consecutive Honkers and giving Willmar the 4-2 victory. Noah Fluman (San Diego St) got the win and Mora got the save.

Willmar will play Rochester again tomorrow night at 7:05 at Bill Taunton Stadium.
