Willmar, Minn.- In the second and final game of a two game series with the Rochester Honkers, the Willmar Stingers exploded for 16 runs in a 16-2 final.

The stingers compiled 15 hits in their victory and held the Honkers to just five of their own.

Matt Ornelas (Nova Southesatern) started on the mound for the Stingers and was spectacular. Ornelas pitched six shutout innings, struck out five and allowed just one hit. For Ornelas this was his third consecutive win and in all three outing he has not allowed a single run to cross the plate. His season ERA is now at a minuscule .90 and his season record is 3-0. Ornelas’ performance tonight earned him CDI player of the night honors.

Offensively everyone was in on the action for the Stingers. Especially Tyler Reichenborn (St.Louis). Reichenborn went 4-5 in the game with a single, two doubles, a triple and 3 RBIs.

Five different Stingers had multiple RBIs and a total of seven had at least one.

The Stingers improve their record to 28-15 on the season and 6-2 in the second half. The win also improves Willmar’s winning streak to five consecutive games.

The Stingers will take on the Waterloo Bucks in a two game series starting tomorrow night at Bill Taunton Stadium.
