Willmar, Minn.-

On Tuesday night, The Willmar Stingers took on the first place La Crosse Loggers at Bill Taunton Stadium. The Stingers, coming into the night, were 2.5 games behind the Loggers for the first place in the North Division.

Through the first seven innings the Stingers could not muster a single run, but then in the seventh, the Stingers, trailing 3-0, tied up the ball game with a three run inning. John Trousdale (Alabama) started the scoring with a sac fly. Caleb Ricca (Northwestern State) cleared the bags with two run triple tying the game at three.

The Loggers in the 8th scored another run and took a 4-3 lead, but the Stingers responded. Eli Wilson (Minnesota) doubled and drove in two runs giving the Stingers a 5-4 lead heading to the ninth.

Jayson Newman (Cal-State Northridge) came in and got the save for the Stingers. Newman struck out three of the four men he faced.

The Stingers now are 1.5 games behind the Loggers for first place in the North Division.
