Willmar, Minn.- On Friday, the Willmar Stingers were defeated by the Bismarck Larks in a very close affair 3-2.

The Stingers jumped out to an early lead in the third inning on a Matt Rudick (San Diego St) homer over the right field fence putting Willmar up 1-0.

In the fifth inning, the Larks took the lead thanks to a two run homer off the bat of Cristian Montes (Stony Brook).

In the bottom half of the inning, the Stingers responded with an RBI double from John Trousdale (Alabama).

The game would remain tied until the top of the ninth inning when Larks’ catcher Braden Williams (New Mexico St) singled in the go-ahead run making it 3-2.

In the bottom half of the inning the Stingers had the tying run on first but could not push him across falling 3-2.

Willmar will travel to Rochester tomorrow to face the Honkers in a two game series.
