Willmar, Minn.- On Friday night, the Willmar Stingers took on the Rochester Honkers for the final time  in Willmar’s 2018 home finale. Willmar took the game by a final score of 7-1 behind great pitching and solid offense.

For the Stingers, Noah Fluman (San Diego St.) got the start. Fluman dealt five strong innings, allowing just four hits and striking out two. The only run against Fluman was a solo homer from Rochester’s Christian Robinson (Stanford) in the fourth inning.

The Stingers only needed two innings to score all seven of their runs. In the fourth inning, Willmar put three on the board,  thanks in large part to Tyler Reichenborn’s (St. Louis) two run blast over the center field fence, making it 3-1 Willmar.

In the fifth the Stingers put up four more runs. John Trousdale (Alabama) singled in two runners and Eric Yang (UC- Santa Barbara) also drove in two with a double later on in the inning.

After the fifth it was up to the bullpen. Dylan Oliver (Alabama) and Michael Cartwright (Cal-State Northridge) combined to go four shutout innings in relief for the Stingers.

The Stingers will travel to Thunder Bay to take on the Border Cats for their final series of the season. Willmar will enter the series one half game in front of Mankato for the second half crown.
