Willmar, Minn.—The Stingers are back to winning after defeating the Eau Claire Express in the first game of a double header.

Making his first start this afternoon was John Bezdicek for the Stingers. He went five strong innings, giving up five hits and allowing one earned run. Bezdicek walked one batter and recorded one strikeout.

In the first inning, Chase Stanke (Univ. of Minn.) broke open the game with a double scoring Gamble. Later in the inning, Cal Elvers (Miami Ohio) walked with the bases loaded bringing in Bohning. 2-0 Stingers. The Express got a run back in the third off four hits. The run scored off a double. 2-1 Stingers. The boys from Willmar answered in the third with base knocks from Bordewick, Haupt, and Fowler. The Stingers scored four runs off five hits. 6-1 Stingers.

The scoring didn’t stop there. In the seventh, Noah Haupt (New Mexico State) the new comer, scored Bordewick from third off a sacrifice fly. In the eighth, Brandon Bohning (Northridge) was able to score off an infield ground ball from Stanke. 8-1 Stingers.

The Express were able to score two runs in the top half of the ninth with two hits, but it was not enough. The Willmar Stingers won 8-3. Game two of the double header scheduled for 7:05pm.
