La Crosse, WI—The Stingers fall in the opening game against the Loggers 8-6. It’s the first of a two games at Copeland Park.

Bradley Kinsey (Pittsburg State) got the nod in tonight’s game. He battled through four innings of work for the Stingers. He allowed six runs on ten hits in his outing. Kinsey issued one walk and struck out three batters.

Justin King (Alabama) got things started right away for the Stingers with another two-run home run. King now has three home runs in the last four games. Walsh crossed the plate as well on that home run to put the Stingers ahead 2-0. La Crosse went on to score seven unanswered runs. The Loggers scored three runs on three hits in their half of the first. 3-2 Loggers. In the second, La Crosse extended their lead by a run with a solo home run. 4-2 Loggers. A flood of hits for the Loggers scored more runs in the fourth. Two Loggers came around to score for La Crosse off four hits, moving the score to 6-2.

Bryant Claunch (North Alabama) came into pitch for the Stingers in the fifth. He gave up one run in his first inning of work but was solid through the next 1.2 innings. Claunch allowed one hit while striking out two batters. 7-2 Loggers. The sixth inning was a big inning for the Stingers. With two outs, Andrew Lucas (Northridge) delivered a base knock scoring Haupt and Bohning. The next batter, James Gamble (UNLV) scored Lucas on a single to center. 7-5 Loggers.

Joel Cheatwood (Montevallo) pitched the last 1.1 innings for the Stingers. He gave up one run in his outing, which was a solo home run. This extended the lead to 8-5. Brandon Bohning (Northridge) was able to score King from third with a base hit in the ninth. The Stingers scoring run was cut short in the last inning with the bases loaded after a bang-bang play at first base was called out. The final score was 8-6 in favor of La Crosse.
