Willmar, Minn.—The Stingers are back to winning with a 7-2 victory over the Rox. A solid pitching performance and the awakening of the bats pushed the Stingers past the Rox in Game 2 of the series.

John Bezdicek (Southwest Minn.-State) was outstanding on the mound for the Stingers. He had a no-hitter going into his sixth inning of work. Bezdicek ended up allowing two earned runs off three hits in his outing. He walked two Rox batters while striking out seven.

Willmar got things going in the second inning when Tyler Bosetti (Nevada) scored on an infield ground ball off the bat of Andrew Lucas (Northridge). 1-0 Stingers. It was lights-out pitching from both teams that kept the game scoreless until the sixth inning. Bosetti advanced Chase Stanke (Minnesota) all the way home from first base on a single that was followed by a throwing error. 2-0 Stingers.

The Rox tied the game up with a two-run home run in the seventh. The game didn’t stay that way for long, as the Stingers went on a scoring frenzy in their half of the inning. Branden Boissiere (Arizona) started things off for the Stingers with a single scoring Baier. A couple batters later, Stanke delivered a huge two-run single that scored Walsh and Boissiere. Brandon Bohning (Northridge) scored the last run of the inning off a Bosetti base-hit. 6-2 Stingers.

Aldo Fernandez (New Mexico State) pitched the last two innings of the game for Willmar. He was perfect on the mound, retiring all six batters he faced. It was Brandon Boissiere that drove in Baier for an insurance run in the ninth. Fernandez slammed the door on the Rox in the top of the inning for a 7-2 Stingers victory. Willmar will host Mankato tomorrow to open a two-game series. First pitch 5:05pm CT.
