Mankato, Minn.—The Stingers are undefeated against the Moondogs this summer. They are now 8-0 against Mankato after that series sweep with a Game 2 score of 5-2.

Garret Rukes (Alabama) was solid on the mound, again, for the Stingers. He completed six innings allowing two earned runs off six hits. Rukes continued his efficiency on the bump by walking one batter and striking out four.

It was Mankato that struck first in the bottom half of the first. The Moondogs scored one run off two hits. 1-0 Moondogs. The bats came alive for the Stingers in the fourth. Chase Stanke (Minnesota) drove in Boissiere to start the scoring. Tyler Bosetti (Nevada) advanced to first base on an error that scored Bohning. Andrew Lucas (Northridge) continued the scoring for the Stingers with an infield ground ball that scored Stanke. 3-1 Stingers.

In the fifth, Branden Boissiere (Arizona) doubled down the right field line scoring Baier. Boissiere came around to score on the very next batter when Brandon Bohning (Northridge) singled. 5-1 Stingers. The Moondogs added a run in their half of the fifth after stringing together a couple hits. 5-2. That is where the score stayed for the rest of the game. Bryant Claunch came into pitch for the Stingers after Rukes. He pitched two scoreless innings, only rendering one hit to the Moondogs.

Aldo Fernandez (New Mexico State) closed things out for the Stingers. He struck out two batters in the ninth to keep the Moondogs winless against the Stingers. The final score was 5-2 Stingers. Willmar will head home for a four-game home stand. First pitch tomorrow is scheduled for 7:05pm CT against the Duluth Huskies.
