Eau, Claire, WI—The Stingers take Game 1 of the double header by a score of 11-0. Willmar will be back at Carson Park later tonight as they look for the day sweep of Eau Claire.

Garret Rukes (Alabama) was lights out on the mound for Willmar in his outing. He pitched a season high 7.1 scoreless innings for the Stingers. Rukes walked one batter and struck out three.

It was a pitcher’s duel in Eau Claire as the game was held scoreless through six innings. In the top of the seventh, it was Kaden Fowler (Georgia) that blew the game open with a grand slam. That was Fowler’s second grand slam of the season. The Stingers added on another run with back-to-back doubles from Baier and Boissiere in the next two at-bats. 5-0 Stingers.

Willmar added to their lead in the eighth when Daniel Walsh (Sac City) scored Stanke on an RBI single. 6-0 Stingers. Josh Wintroub (Augustana College) pitched the last 1.2 scoreless innings for the Stingers. The Stingers loaded the bases in the top of the ninth. Five runs crossed home in the inning off two hits, two walks and a fielder’s choice.

The final score of the game was 11-0 Stingers. Willmar will be back in action tonight against Eau Claire for Game 2 of the double header. First pitch 7:05pm CT!
