Eau Claire, WI—The Stingers complete Game 2 of the day against the Express with a 7-3 victory. The Stingers are now 3-0 against Eau Claire in the four-game series.
Luke DeGrammont (Concordia-St. Paul) was the starter for the Stingers. The Express scored right away in the bottom of the first. That was the only run that DeGrammont gave up in his outing. In the second inning, Justin King (Alabama) tie the game up with one swing of the bat. His home run tied the game up 1-1.
The Stingers scored four runs in the fourth inning without a hit. Five walks, one hit by pitch, and one error brought in all four runs. Justin King did it again in the fifth. He launched his second home run of the game over the right field fence to move the score to 6-1 Stingers. Ricky Maddock (Central Missouri) made his first appearance for the Stingers with three innings in relief. Eau Claire got a pair of runs in the seventh. The Express scored two runs off three hits, moving the score to 6-3 Stingers.
The Stingers scored an insurance run in the top of the ninth. Sam Baier (Augustana) lead the inning off with a sinlge and then stole second base. Baier scored from second in the next at-bat off a Tyler Bosetti (Nevada) single.
Joel Cheatwood (Montevallo) pitched a scoreless ninth for Willmar. He picked up two strikeouts on the way as the Stingers beat the Express 7-3. The Stingers and Express will face off again tomorrow for Game 4 of the series at Carson Park. First pitch 6:35pm CT!
