La Crosse, Wis. – Willmar ends its six-game losing skid Friday night with a tight, 3-1 win against the Loggers.

Dennis Boatman got the start for the Stingers, tossing six innings of one-run ball, giving up three hits, three walks and striking out six.

Daniel Sayre had a great night at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and two singles. He also had two stolen bases.

Daniel Walsh gave the Stingers the lead in the top of the fourth, on a two-run single to right field, scoring Sayre and TJ Curd. Brady Hill had an RBI groundout in the sixth for the Stingers’ third run.

Colton Hamman threw two innings of shutout ball. He got out of the eighth after a sensational diving catch by right fielder William Hamiter, who subsequently threw to first for the inning-ending double play. Jacob Webb shut the door in the ninth, striking out three after allowing a lead-off walk.

The Stingers’ next game is Saturday, June 19 against Waterloo. First pitch from The Beehive is 7:05 p.m.
