St. Cloud, Minn. – The Stingers drop both games of the doubleheader Wednesday in St. Cloud.

In Game 1, the Stingers fell to the Rox 5-3. Jack Zigan made the start for Willmar and went six innings, gave up two runs (both earned), six hits, one walk and struck out five.

The Stingers had a 3-1 lead for a good portion of the game. In the sixth, St. Cloud cut it to one and tied it in the seventh. Colton Hamman pitched the seventh and eighth innings for Willmar and allowed a two-run double to Cody Kelly to give St. Cloud the 5-3 lead.

Neither team scored through the first four-and-a-half innings in Game 2. Tanner Brown got the start and was squeezed by the home plate umpire. Ultimately, four runs scored in the frame, all with two outs.

The Stingers got in the board in the top of the sixth on an RBI hit by Grant Kerry.

Weston Lombard came in for the sixth, and St. Cloud added four more to expand the lead to 8-1.

The Stingers added two more in garbage time and ultimately lost 9-3.

Willmar is back home for the next three games. They play Rochester at The Beehive on Thursday at 7:05 p.m.
