Duluth, Minn. – The Stingers, behind a seven-run seventh inning, defeat the Huskies 11-4.

In the season series opener between these two teams, the Huskies got off to a hot start, scoring twice in the bottom of the first and adding one more in the second.

The Stingers got on the board in the fourth on an RBI fielder’s choice by Drey Dirksen. William Hamiter then tied the game in the sixth on a two-run home run over the left field wall.

The Huskies responded in the sixth to recapture the lead.

In the seventh, 13 batters stepped up to the plate for Willmar. Jorge Lucero hit an RBI double, two runs came in on wild pitches, a bases-loaded walk, two-run single by Drey Dirksen and RBI hit by Brady Counsell capped off the frame. Willmar added one more in the eighth as well.

The Stingers will be in pursuit of a second straight series sweep Sunday afternoon. First pitch from Wade Stadium is 1:05 p.m.
