Bison Battery Heading to the Bee Hive
Andrew Baumgart is heading back to his hometown for his first year with the Stingers. The left-handed pitcher graduated from Willmar High School and helped his team to a team record 22 wins, section championship, and an appearance in the state tournament in 2021. Baumgert was named to the All-Conference team as a senior. Baumgert is currently a freshman at North Dakota State University.
Joining his fellow teammate is sophomore catcher Will Busch. Busch has started 13 games this spring for the Bison hitting .296. Last year, Busch appeared in 37 games with 28 starts. Hit .248 in 117 at-bats with 29 hits, including seven doubles. Heading into college, Prep Baseball ranked Busch as the 10th best player in Minnesota and the second best catcher.
The Stingers open their season on May 30th in Rochester against the Honkers. The home opener is Wednesday, June 1st against the Eau Claire Express.
