WILLMAR, MN – The Willmar Stingers captured their second win of the season in a 9-5 game versus The Minnesota Mud Puppies.

This would break a four-game losing skid as the Stingers improve to 2-5 on the season.

Starting the game for Willmar was lefty Jack Habeck. It was the first start of the season for Habeck and his second appearance on the mound. He threw seven innings, giving up two runs while striking out two. His commanding performance earned him his second win on the season.

One of Habeck’s earned runs came off of the bat of Minnesota’s Teddy Deters, as his first at-bat as a Mud Puppy was a solo home run that tied the game 1-1 in the second.

The game was broken open in the bottom of the third when Sam Daly sent a three-run blast to left field. He would finish the game with four RBIs on the way to becoming back-to-back MinnWest Technology Campus Player of the Game. Daly is now hitting with .333 on the season and has six RBIs on the year.

Drey Dirksen also had a night at the plate. He went 4-4, with two doubles, and also added an RBI. The first five Stingers in the order were all able to send runs across the plate for an overall productive day for Willmar.

Right-hander Will Roguske came into relief Habeck in the top of the eight. He would pitch two scoreless innings, striking out two, and only giving up one hit.

The Willmar Stingers will take on the Minnesota Mud Puppies for the second time tomorrow at 7:05 p.m.
