WILLMAR, MN – The Willmar Stingers lost game two of the series against the St. Cloud Rox, 9-3.

The scoring started in the bottom of the second when Will Busch sent Nick Terrell home with two outs on an RBI single. The Stingers would capture their first lead of the second half but it wouldn’t last long.

The Rox would go and hit a grand slam in the top of the next inning to capture the lead. St. Cloud would not give it back for the remainder of the game.

The Stingers would score their second run in the bottom of the fifth when an error scored Terrell to make the score 6-2.

The Rox would score three more runs to make the score 9-2. The Stingers would get their third and final run in the bottom of the ninth when Dalton Pearson grounded out sending Terrell home for the third time.

The MinnWest Technology Campus Player of the Game was Will Busch. He finished the game going 2-3 with an RBI and a walk.

The win would go to St. Cloud starter Joseph Battaglia and the loss would be given to Willmar starter Sam Malec.

With this loss, the Willmar Stingers start off the second half 0-2 as they look to turn it around during a three-game weekend road trip starting tomorrow. The Stinger will travel to Waterloo to take on the Bucks on Friday and Saturday. Willmar will finish the road trip on Sunday on the first game of a home-and-home series against the Mankato MoonDogs.
