ROCHESTER, MN – The Willmar Stingers fell against the Rochester Honkers in extra innings, 6-5.

This loss ended Willmar’s winning streak at eight wins as they lost their first game coming back from the All-Star break.

The Stingers started off hot as Brett Bateman hit a two-RBI double in the top of the first. The Stingers would score again on another two-run RBI double from Nick Terrell in the top of the fourth.

The Honkers would be able to score in three straight innings, tying the game at 4-4 by the end of the sixth inning.

No more runs would score until extra innings thanks to incredible pitching from the arms of Rochester’s Troy Wentworth and Willmar’s Joe Ihli. Both went three innings without giving up a hit. Ihli was named the MinnWest Technology Campus Player of the Night.

Both the Stingers and Honkers would score in the tenth to keep the game tied. The game would stay scoreless til the bottom of the twelfth when Rochester got in the game winning run.

The Stingers are looking to bounce back tomorrow and split the series against the Honkers. The game is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
