EAU CLAIRE, WI – The Willmar Stingers won their eighth game in a row tonight against the Eau Claire Express, 9-4.

This means that the Stingers have won 16 out of their last 17 games as they continue to hold the best record in the second half of the season.

The game started off quickly when Willmar’s Scott Anderson sent two runners home on an RBI double in the top of the first. The Stingers would follow that up in a big way the next inning when Joey Walls hit Willmar’s grand slam of the season. Walls send a ball to deep left center, scoring four runs to make the score 6-0.

The Stinger’s next runs would come in the top of the seventh when Drey Dirksen hit an RBI double and would then advance home on a fielding error. Willmar’s final run came on an RBI ground out from Aidan Byrne. The game would end 9-4 in Willmar’s favor.

The MinnWest Technology Campus Player of the Game was Nolan Kemp. Kemp came into the game in the bottom of the fourth and pitched four innings while giving up only one run. It was the St. Thomas commit’s first appearance with the Stingers and he made the most of it.

The Stingers are right back at it tomorrow against the Express in search of their longest winning streak of the season. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
