LA CROSSE, WI – The Willmar Stingers continue to do no wrong, winning their 12th-straight game tonight against the La Crosse Loggers, 14-4.

The Stingers scored right away in the top of the first when Will Hodo sent a two-run bomb off the top of the right field foul pole. This would mark back-to-back games for Hodo where he would homer in the first inning. Willmar would go on to have a 3-0 lead after the first inning.

Willmar would jump way ahead in the top of the third where they would score six runs. Highlights of the inning included a Drey Dirksen two-run RBI double, Jordan Sagedahl’s first hit as a Stinger being an RBI double, and Brett Bateman hitting his first home run of the season.

Bateman would go on to be named the MinnWest Technology Campus Player of the Game. The Golden Gopher went 2-3 with a home run and double while sending home three runners. He also made some impressive catches in the outfield.

The Loggers would score two runs in the fifth and sixth inning making the score 9-4. The Stingers would respond scoring five more runs of their own in the top of the seventh. No more runs would score, giving the Stingers their 41st win of the year.

Andrew Baumgart got the win in his five-inning, four-earned run performance. Nolan Kemp pitched 3.2 innings and struck out seven in his relief appearance.

Willmar gets the day off tomorrow for the Major League Dreams Showcase as seven Stingers prepare to play on a big stage tomorrow.
