LA CROSSE, WI – The Willmar Stingers fell to the La Crosse Loggers tonight, 7-6.

The loss put an end to a historic winning streak for the Willmar Stingers. Their new franchise record for wins in a row stands at 12.

The Stingers were able to take an early lead in the top of the first when Graysen Tarlow hit an RBI single with two outs scoring Zac Corbin. The Loggers would tie the game in the bottom of the inning.

La Crosse and Willmar would go back and forth losing then regaining the lead until the Loggers were able to score three in the bottom of the fifth making the score 7-3. An error with two outs would lead to three runs scoring putting the game out of reach.

The Stingers were able to score three runs inching closer but the final out was recorded before Willmar could tie the game, 7-6.

The best offensive output of the game came from catcher Grayse Tarlow who went 3-5, with a double and two RBIs. Zac Corbin added two RBIs of his own in his 2-3 day and Scott Anderson went 3-5 driving in a run to round out the scoring.

The MinnWest Technology Campus Player of the Game was Mitch Gutknecht. He came in the sixth and pitched three scoreless innings while striking out four to keep the Stingers in the game.

The Stingers stay 4.5 games at the top of the Great Plains West and only 0.5 game out of home-field advantage in the playoffs. The Stingers face the red-hot MoonDogs tomorrow for a two-game series at Bill Taunton Stadium. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
