DULUTH, MN – The Willmar Stingers have clinched their playoff spot tonight after their win against the Duluth Huskies tonight, 7-5.

The Willmar Stingers are set to face off against the St. Cloud Rox after the season ends on August 14th for a three-game series. Currently, the Stingers and Rox are now battling for who will gain a home-field advantage while in the playoffs.

The scoring got started in the top of the second when Willmar’s Nick Terrell drove in Graysen Tarlow on an RBI single. The Stingers would score again when Tarlow hit his first home run of the year in the top of the fourth to left-center field making the score 2-0.

The Huskies would get on the board in a big way taking the lead with a grand slam from Joe Vos in the bottom of the fourth, 4-2.

The Stingers would inch closer and take the lead in the sixth and seventh innings. Drey Dirksen hit an RBI double in the sixth and the Stingers would take the lead scoring three runs in the top of the seventh. Duluth would score one run in the bottom of the seventh but would score no more. The Stingers end on top 7-5.

The MinnWest Technology Campus Player of the Game was the winning pitcher Seth Miller. He threw for six innings, giving up four runs while striking out two in his first win of the season. Brian Baker sealed the deal with the three-out save.

The Stingers are back in action tomorrow against the Huskies with the first pitch scheduled for 3:05 p.m.
