WILLMAR, MN – The Willmar Stingers shut out the Bismarck Larks tonight, 11-0.

With the completion of today’s game, it marks the fourth Stinger shutout this year as the Willmar pitching staff continues to impress.

The MinnWest Technology Campus Player of the Game was Jack Zigan, who threw seven scoreless innings. He only allowed three hits and was able to fan one batter.

This was the second time this season Zigan was able to get past the seventh inning without letting a runner score. Zigan now has four wins on the year and 10 career wins in the Northwoods League. Relief pitcher Mitch Gutknecht pitched the eighth and ninth innings securing the shutout.

The scoring got started in the third inning when Scott Anderson hit a sac fly scoring Graysen Tarlow from third base. The Stingers would add on to their lead in the bottom of the fourth when six runs would come home.

Joey Walls walked in a runner, Tarlow hit an RBI single with the bases loaded, and then Will Hodo hit a grand slam. It was Hodo’s last game in Willmar tonight, and he went out with a bang. He finished the season with eight home runs and 46 RBIs in an incredible season for the Willmar Stingers.

The Stingers would go on to score four more runs before the game was over. Drey Dirksen scored on a wild pitch, Dalton Pearson hit a two-RBI double, and Walls drove a run home on a single.

The Stingers face the Larks tomorrow for one final time this season. If the Stingers win tomorrow, they will be the Great Plains West Second-Half Champions. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
