WILLMAR, MN – The Willmar Stingers defeated the Duluth Huskies in the regular season finale, 10-6.

The Stingers were down 6-0 in the first two innings but would rally back to an emphatic win. Willmar’s historic season was capped off by another record-shattering first. The Stingers ended the year scoring 525 runs. No other team has even come close to that amount. The 2022 Willmar Stingers were the best offense the league has ever seen.

The win would go to Andrew Baumgart throwing five innings while giving up three runs. The save would go to Nolan Kemp in his four-inning scoreless effort while striking out five. Kemp would be named the MinnWest Technology Campus Player of the Game for his outing against the Huskies.

Kyle Payne had another impressive day hitting two doubles and sending three runners home. He came into the series against Duluth with three extra-base hits the whole year. Coming out of the series, he now has six heading into the playoffs.

The Willmar Stingers start a three-game series against the St. Cloud Rox in the first round of the Northwoods League Playoffs. Game one is right here at the BeeHive.
