Waterloo, IA- The Willmar Stingers (21-17) split their second doubleheader against the Waterloo Bucks (24-16).

The Bucks grabbed game one, 11-8.

Waterloo started game one scoring one run in both the first and second inning.

In the top of the third, Armani Guzman walked to start off the inning before Sam Hunt drove in Guzman on a ground out.

The Bucks stayed hot, plating four runs in the bottom of the fourth.

The Stingers matched the Bucks with four runs of their own. Willmar loaded the bases before first basemen Matthew Pena singled to score second basemen Landon Franklin from third. Center fielder Ryker Edwards drove in three runs with a single.

The Stingers kept the offense going, scoring two runs. Left fielder Cody Nitowitz walked and Guzman singled before Hunt drove him in with an RBI single. Edwards drove in Guzman on a groundout.

The Bucks answered back with four runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth.

Jameson Martin hit his seventh home run of the year to start the top of the sixth. That was all the Stingers were able to muster in the sixth.

For the Stingers, Isaac Hansen worked 1.1 innings of work striking out two runners while allowing just two hits.

Jameson Martin went 3-for-3 with an RBI, walk and homerun.

Ryker Edwards went 2-for-5 with three RBIs

Sam Hunt went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

The Stingers took game two, 6-2.

The Bucks were blanked through four innings. Louis Castano had three strike outs in his 4.0 innings of work.

In the bottom of the fourth, first base Liam Bushey reached on an error. Shortstop Jameson Martin walked to set up the Stingers. Right fielder Joey Craig drove in Bushey with a single. Martin was driven in on a designated hitter Jordan Kuhnau double.

Centerfielder Cody Nitowitz drew a walk to load the bases with one out.  Colton Griffin singled in the infield to drive in Craig.

In the fifth, Bushey and Martin walked to start the inning.  Craig then walked to load the bases.  Left fielder Colton Griffin drove in three runs with a double.

In the top of the sixth, the Bucks scored two.

The Stingers, Louis Castano went 5.0 shutout innings striking out three.

Colton Griffin went 2-for-3 with three RBIs

Joey Craig went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

The Stingers will stay on the road for a two game series versus the Mankato Moondogs with first pitch set for 6:35p.m. CST on NWL+.
