MANKATO–It took until July 16th for the Stingers to be shut out, but now it’s happened twice in two games as Willmar fell 2-0 on Saturday to the Mankato Moondogs at Franklin Rogers Park. For the second straight night, a beautiful start from a Willmar pitcher was wasted as Cedric Pomerlee took the loss despite only allowing one earned run over six innings.

Mankato starter Sam Selman was superb, no-hitting the Stingers until Joe Sever’s seventh inning double, one of just three Willmar hits in the game. After Saturday’s loss the Stingers are mired in a now 20-inning scoreless streak and have surrendered the edge in the season series with the Moondogs 5-4.

Next up for 22-22 and 4-5 Willmar, it’s the finale of the two game series with Mankato at 6:05 pm at the Frank. As always, we remind you to log on to wctrib.com for all your Stingers coverage. The 2010 season is presented by Charter.
