WILLMAR, Minn. – Anthony Bemboom (Creighton) had the only multi-hit performance for Willmar in a game that the Stingers led 5-2 going into the eighth inning, but the Beetles came back with four runs in the eighth and two in the ninth to win 8-5 Friday night at Bill Taunton Stadium.

Ricky Knapp (Florida Gulf Coast) had a strong start on the mound, allowing only two runs on five hits while striking out five in six innings to allow the Stingers to lead 5-2 when he exited the game. However, Alexandria had its first four batters reach base in the eighth inning, including back-to-back walks and a two-run double by Rick Devereaux. An RBI single by pinch-hitter Mike LeViseur gave the Beetles the lead for good, 6-5, going on to win 8-5.

Trailing 2-0 entering the fourth, the Stingers scored in three consecutive innings to take their 5-2 advantage, beginning with Sean Dwyer (Florida Gulf Coast) walking to leadoff the fourth frame and scoring on a double play groundout by Mitch Delfino (California). The Stingers took the lead in the fifth after Garrett Borba (Pacific) and Mitch Rowan (Willamette) scored from third base on back-to-back ground balls in the infield.

In the sixth inning, Delfino singled with one out and scored after stealing third and advancing on an errant throw by the catcher Dale Ricketts. Bemboom walked one batter later and scored on a wild pitch.
