(Willmar, MN) – The Northwoods League has announced the 2012 Stingers schedule which will begin on Wednesday, May 30 with the Home Opener presented by Christianson & Associates. The season will be comprised of 70 games, 35 home and 35 road games for all 16 league franchises. The league continues to be the largest summer collegiate league in the country and plays more games than any other summer league.  For the complete schedule, please click on the \”Schedule\” icon above.

The Northwoods League is comprised of a North and South Division. The Willmar Stingers compete in the North Division with hopes of post-season play in August of each year. The top two teams of each division advance to a divisional playoff, followed by a league championship series following the regular season on August 14. The Stingers will open their third season of play at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30 vs the Mankato MoonDogs for the Home Opener presented by Christianson & Associates.

Additions to the league this year are the Lakeshore Chinooks, which is an expansion franchise that will compete in the South Division. The Chinooks will play their home games at Concordia College in Mequon, WI, which is a suburb of Milwaukee.  As a part of this move, Waterloo, IA will now compete in the North Division with the elimination of the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers franchise.  The Waterloo Bucks have won three league championships and were original members of the Northwoods League in 2004 when the league had six members.

The Stingers have recently also announced ticket plans for the upcoming season. Along with season ticket options the Stingers will also have a 6-pack and 8-game mini plan.  Fans will again have three options for season tickets at the Bee Hive (reserved, box and Westside Liquor Diamond View).  Similar to last season, fans can also purchase the Stingers 6-pack which includes food and drink for six select premium games.  New for 2012 will be the 8-game mini plan where fans can pick eight games of their choice prior to the start of the season.

On-line ticketing will be an option for fans in 2012. Starting in April when single game tickets go on-sale, fans will be able to visit willmarstingers.com and purchase tickets in the comfort of their home or work place. Game tickets/voucher can be printed and used for entry into the ballpark.
