La Crosse, Wisc.— Two swings of the bat was all La Crosse needed Thursday night, as two home runs by Mason McCoy carried the Loggers to a 8-2 victory over Willmar at Copeland Park.

The 8-2 final was not indicative of the game story, as both starting pitchers matched one another pitch for pitch throughout the first half of the game. Andrew Towns, in his first start of the Stingers, looked strong out of the gate, allowing just two hits in his first four innings. Zach Smart was strong on the other side for the Loggers as he gave up just three hits total in his 5 1/3 innings on the hill.

The difference in the game came in the fifth inning. Michael Echavia doubled home the first run of the game to make it 1-0 Loggers. Then Mason McCoy hit the first of two home runs, a three-run shot to left field to give the Loggers more than enough cushion. McCoy would add a two-run homer in the seventh to put the game at rest.

Storm Wilson led the Stingers at the plate, and despite only reaching base with a hit one time, he was on base four different times throughout the night. He walked three different times, one shy of the record for the Stingers this season, and also scored a run and stole a base.

Wilson came into score along with Paul Funk on a two-run single by Lucas Tancas in the seventh inning that cut the Loggers lead in half at the time. The two RBIs now gives Tancas 10 for the season.
