WILLMAR, Minn. — The Stingers came back late in the game twice, forcing 13 innings against the Huskies and eventually falling, 11-10.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, the Stingers trailed 8-5. Harrison Schnurbusch (Central Missouri) led off the inning with a single. The inning followed with three walks, two hits, and a hit by pitch. Marcus Still (New Mexico State), Danny Rodriguez (Bethune-Cookman) both collected RBIs on hits.
Caleb Ledbetter (Montevallo) took the first pitch he saw in the inning off the back, tying up the game for Willmar.
In the tenth inning, the Huskies scored two more. The Stingers quickly responded with two runs as well, driven in by Nolan Bumstead's (CS-Northridge) single and Rodriguez's sacrifice fly.
The eleventh and twelfth innings then went scoreless for both teams, until the Huskies scored one in the thirteenth to earn the edge over Willmar.
Ledbetter went 3-for-6 at the plate, driving in two runs and scoring one.
Rodriguez finished the day 4-for-6 with four RBIs, leading the Stingers at the plate. He finished just a triple short of the cycle, hitting a two-run home run in the first inning as well.
The five hour, 13-minute affair included 29 hits between the two teams, 15 pitchers and 483 total pitches. It led into Sunday morning fireworks enjoyed by 1208 fans at Bill Taunton Stadium.

The Stingers are now 18-11 on the second half and 36-29 overall. They move into second place with their loss and Eau Claire's victory.
The Stingers finish their home slate tomorrow at 6:05 p.m. Joe Vranesic (Kent State) is expected to start on the mound for game two against the Huskies. Tickets are available by calling 320-222-2010 and it will be Fan Appreciation Night at Bill Taunton Stadium.
