La Crosse, Wis.—The Stingers came into today’s game off a sweep of the Mankato Moondogs. Their opponent, the La Crosse Loggers, beat an undefeated Duluth Huskies team the night before. Both teams coming into today’s matchup optimistic.
Tyler Bosma (Miami Ohio) was electric on the mound for the Stingers. The starter completed six scoreless innings of work. Bosma gave up three hits while striking out nine and walking none. He retired the Loggers in order four of the six innings pitched.
The scoring began in the third when Cal Elvers (Miami Ohio) knocked in two runs with a double scoring Gamble and Walsh. The next batter, Chase Stanke (Univ of Minn.), continued the trend with a two-run double of his own scoring Trousdale and Elvers. The score was 7-0 Stingers.
In the sixth, Stanke and Brandon Bohning (CSU-Northridge) each picked up an RBI single. 9-0 Stingers. In the seventh, Elvers was walked bringing in Gamble. Later in the inning Daniel Walsh (Sacramento City) scores on a Sam Baier sacrifice fly. Stingers up 11-0.
Loggers were able to gain a run back in the seventh after an RBI double. The Stingers got that run back after an RBI double of their own from Andrew Lucas (CSU-Northridge) in the ninth which scored Bohning. Final score 12-1 Stingers.
