Bismarck, ND. —The Stingers complete the swept of the Larks in the summer finale 6-2. The Stingers were one out away from a complete game shutout before the Larks scored in the ninth inning.
John Bezdicek (Southwest Minn.-State) was outstanding on the mound for Willmar as he went six scoreless innings. Bezdicek gave up three hits, three walks, and struck out seven batters. The game was scoreless through the first three innings. In the fourth, Chase Stanke (Minnesota) broke open the scoreless game when his double scored Riley Johnson (Augustana, SD) from second. Another run scored when Brennan McKenzie (Pomona) touched home off an infield ground ball from Bosetti. Stanke continued the scoring streak for the third run of the inning when the Larks committed a fielding error. 3-0 Stingers.
Stanke scored another run for Willmar, in the fifth, when his sacrifice fly scored Boissiere. 4-0
Stingers. Willmar scored their last two runs of the game in the seventh. McKenzie scored Baier from third with a single to left. During the following at-bat, Branden Boissiere (Arizona) advanced home on a sacrifice fly to right. That was Stanke’s third RBI of the night. 6-0 Stingers.
Casey Dykstra (Azusa Pacific) pitched the last three innings of the game for Willmar. He was scoreless through two innings until the Larks scored their only runs of the game in the ninth. With two outs, Bismarck hit a two-tun home run. That was where the game stayed as the Stingers beat the Larks 6-2.
Willmar will head to Eau Claire tomorrow where they will play four games in three days. First pitch tomorrow is set for 6:35pm CT!
