La Crosse, Wis. – The Stingers lose the first game in La Crosse Thursday night, by a 7-1 final. The loss is the sixth consecutive game Willmar has dropped.
Jacob Ferris got the start for the Loggers, tossing six shutout innings. He gave up five hits and struck out five without walking a batter.
For the Stingers, left-hander Sasha Jabusch made his debut with the team. He went three innings, gave up six hits, three runs (all unearned), walked two, and struck out one. He got out of the first inning unscathed after allowing the bases loaded with no one out. He induced a pop out and a 1-2-3 double play to retire the side.
The only run for Willmar came in the top of the eighth inning, on a sacrifice fly by Reid Homan.
Game 2 of the series in La Crosse will be Friday night, June 18. First pitch from Copeland Park is at 6:35 p.m.
