WILLMAR, MN – The Willmar Stingers held the Waterloo Bucks scoreless tonight, 4-0.

The Stingers won their fifth game in a row off the arm of Cal Poly righty Steven Brooks. In his first start, Brooks dominated the diamond throwing eight scoreless innings while striking out six. He gave up six hits throughout the entire game and only allowed one walk. Brooks was named the MinnWest Technology Campus Player of the Game for his effort.

The Stingers scored in the second and eighth innings for the only runs of the game. Zac Corbin and Will Safford both hit RBI singles in the bottom of the second. Safford got his second RBI in the bottom of the eighth and, shortly after, Will Hodo sent a runner home on a bases-loaded walk.

Safford now has back-to-back games with multiple hits when he is in the starting lineup. As for Corbin, he now has a seven-game hitting streak and has seven RBIs in his past five games.

Willmar now holds a 5-2 record in the second half as they continue to put themselves in a better position to solidify a playoff spot.

The Stingers have the opportunity to sweep three straight series as the Bucks come in tomorrow for another game. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
