The Alexandria Beetles Baseball Club is proud to announce the addition of Dave Overlund to the staff as the Director of Media Relations and Broadcasting for the 2011 season. Overlund replaces Matt Bishop, who held the position in 2010.

The Apple Valley, Minnesota native is currently a student at St. Cloud State University studying radio broadcasting and brings two years of broadcasting experience to the club. Working for the award-winning campus radio station, KVSC 88.1 FM, Overlund has gained valuable experience in multiple areas including news and sports. He is the main play-by-play voice for KVSC’s broadcasts of St. Cloud State baseball and football and also serves as the color commentator for Husky hockey on KVSC.

Overlund has multiple Minnesota Associated Press Awards on his resume, including a 2010 First Place for Sports Reporting and a 2010 Honorable Mention for Sports Play-by-Play. Broadcasters from KVSC are no stranger to the Beetles organization as former play-by-play voices Curt Carstensen (2002-2006) and Matt Bishop (2010) have honed their skills at SCSU’s campus station.

“It’s a dream come true to be the play by play voice of the Beetles,” Overlund stated. “I’m looking forward to an exciting summer in Alexandria.”

He brings several seasons of experience working multiple sports down at SCSU.” Owner/General Manager Shawn Reilly said. “Dave will be a part of a history of outstanding broadcasters the Beetles have had the last 10 years in Alexandria.”
