All-Star Perkins to Return to Bucks

The Waterloo Bucks, a member of the Northwoods League, have announced third baseman Cameron Perkins will return to play for Waterloo in 2012. Perkins, a junior at Purdue University, is the 13th player to be named to the Bucks' roster for the team's 18th season and joins fellow Boilermaker Brett Andrzejewski on the team this summer.

The St. Cloud franchise of the Northwoods League has announced that it will unveil its team name and logo at Legends Bar & Grill located in the Holiday Inn & Suites in St. Cloud on Tuesday, February 28 at 7pm. The event is free and open to the public. There will be merchandise and season ticket options available at the event.

This week the Wisconsin Woodchucks welcomed University of California–San Diego RHP Ryan Goodbrand to the 2012 roster. Ryan comes to the Woodchucks from a strong baseball program; the same program that produced 2011 NWL All-Star and Ryan’s current teammate Danny Susdorf.

Rafters Ink Two Players from University of Virginia

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters added a pair of players from the University of Virginia baseball program when team officials announced the signings of versatile freshmen Brandon Downes and Kenny Towns. Downes is projected to see time at both catcher and in the outfield this spring and Towns is capable of playing multiple infield positions. Virginia is coming off its second College World Series appearance in the last three years and has won 156 games over that time frame—tops of any program in Division I baseball.

The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club continues to attract talented players from big name colleges. Recently the Honkers signed two promising University of Tennessee freshmen. Jared Allen, a 6’1”, 220-pound outfielder, and David Horne, a 6’3”, 215-pound right-handed pitcher will switch their colors from orange and white to teal and black this summer in Rochester.

The Waterloo Bucks, a member of the Northwoods League, have announced the hiring of Kendall Hughson as the Assistant General Manager/Director of Stadium Operations. Hughson (pronounced HUGH-son) will join General Manager Dan Corbin for the 18th season of Bucks Baseball.
