Consiglio Earns Wins for Stingers
adminAnthony Consiglio (Western Nevada College) registered his 2nd win of the season Friday night as he beat the St. Cloud River Bats at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud. Consiglio threw 6.0 innings of three hit baseball while not allowing any runs. Consiglio has pitched 11.0 innings this summer and is yet to allow an earned run.
Koch Hits Game Winning Grand Slam
adminJimmie Koch (Florida Tech) helped the Honkers win in dramatic fashion Friday night. The 6'2'' right fielder blasted a grand slam in the 10th inning to break a 5-5 tie at Mayo Field in Rochester, MN. Koch only had one hit on the night, but made it count as he was the hero for the Honkers.
NWL Experiences Another Record Setting MLB Draft
admin(Rochester, Minn.) The 2011 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft took place June 6-8 in Secaucus, New Jersey. The Northwoods League experienced yet another record setting MLB Draft with 179 current and former NWL players being selected. The Northwoods League had 40 players selected in the first ten rounds of the 50-round draft.

Guerrero Throws Gem for MoonDogs
adminAbel Guerrero (Galveston CC) was dominant in his 2nd start of the season for the Mankato MoonDogs Thursday night. Guerrero improved his record to 2-0 as he threw 7.0 scoreless innings while striking out six Beetles. Guerrero was recently drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 36th round of the 2011 MLB Draft. Guerrero now has a 1.50 earned run average in 12.0 innings pitched.
