(Duluth, MN) — Thanks to a two run bottom of the 8th, the Huskies beat the Bullfrogs in the first game of the series, 4-3.
UMD Bulldog Bo Hellquist was again solid on the mound, going six full and allowing only four hits and one earned run. The late inning comeback started with an Alex Greene (West Florida) single and SB, followed by a walk from Chase Kiefer. (West Florida) Dominic Brugnoni, who has already come up big multiple times in this young season, knocked Greene in with a single. Vinny Rodriguez (Montevallo) gave the Huskies the lead for good with another RBI single. Chris Myjak (DMAAC) threw 2.1 perfect innings to shut the door on the Bullfrogs.
Greene finished with three hits and one run scored. Kiefer scored two runs and had one hit. Brugnoni added two more RBI on two hits.
Tomorrow’s game against Bullfrogs will start at 11:35am for Education Day.
