DULUTH, Minn. – The Duluth Huskies (13-22, 29-41) ended their season on a sour note, losing 24-5 to the Thunder Bay Border Cats (11-23, 27-41).

Owen Marsolek looked like himself for his first two innings on the mound, allowing just one baserunner and no runs. His offense got on the board in the bottom of the second, with Reagan Reeder driving a double and Finley Spicer bringing him around with a two-run blast to left.

The Border Cats got things going in the third, with a wild pitch, sacrifice fly, and run-scoring double from Ayden Hadley capturing the 3-2 lead. Brayden Smith smacked a triple off the center-field wall and scored on a sizzling double from Kayden Campbell in the bottom of the third to tie the game, but that was the last time the contest would be close.

Six hits in the fourth inning allowed five runs to score for Thunder Bay, and the visitors plated another in the fifth. The Cats batted around in the sixth, seventh, and eighth, scoring four, four, and five runs in those respective innings. Duluth found a bright spot in the eighth, when Smith shellacked his first home run of the season over the wall in left-center, but those runs were offset by two more scoring in the ninth for the visitors.

Vincent Segovia started for Thunder Bay in his collegiate swan song and earned the win with seven innings of four-hit, three run ball. His offense recorded 22 hits and 24 runs, both of which were season highs for the team.

Blake Eiden was the only Husky pitcher not to give up a run, coming in with the bases loaded in the sixth and limiting the damage with a pair of strikeouts.

Smith finished 2-for-5 with his first triple and home run of the season. Spicer had a 2-for-4 line with his second homer of the year.
