(Duluth, MN) — Mishaps in the field and on the mound led to another loss of a late lead, and the Huskies fell to St. Cloud Rox to close out the home stand, 8-3.

The Huskies couldn’t support Patrick McGrath’s solid night, managing only five hits for the game. Keach Ballard had one hit, scored once, and had an RBI, and Vinny Rodriguez picked up a big RBI double to tie the game in the 6th; he had two hits and scored once. Patrick McGrath started the game and left with a lead, going six full and allowing only two runs on eight hits.

The Huskies will not be back at The Wade for 11 days, a break that includes the NWL All-Star Game.

The Duluth Huskies are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. Playing its 21st season of summer collegiate baseball, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 18 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, more than 115 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (DET) and MLB All-Stars Chris Sale (CWS), Jordan Zimmermann (WAS), Curtis Granderson (NYM), Allen Craig (STL) and Ben Zobrist (TB).
