The Duluth Huskies (3-4) split their series with the Thunder Bay Border Cats by dropping the second game 14-4.

Thunder Bay scored the first run of the game in the 2nd inning but the main damage was done in both the 3rd and 7th innings. Miguel Mogues led off the 3rd with a walk followed by a double from right fielder Joe Gellenbeck. Catcher Nate Nolan then followed with a sacrifice that scored Mogues. Three more singles by designated hitter Grant McKown, left fielder Alan Baldwin, and shortstop Matt Batten helped tally on three more runs in the 3rd for the Border Cats.

Thunder Bay added seven more runs in the 7th inning by collecting six hits which included two singles, three doubles, and one triple from Matt Batten. Joe Gellenbeck added his second double of the game in the inning which scored two players in the process. Batten, Gellenbeck, and McKown all had three hits for the Border Cats with Batten adding three RBI’s to go along his big game.

Shortstop Alex Greene led the way for the Huskies by going 3 for 5 that included a two-RBI single in the 7th inning. Bo Hellquist was the losing pitcher for the Huskies while Jeremy Charles was the winning pitcher for the Border Cats.

The Huskies begin a two-game series in Waterloo on Wednesday and then return to Wade for a two-game series versus Eau Claire.
