The Duluth Huskies (19-14) were defeated by Rochester 5-4 in splitting their series with the Honkers.

Center fielder Cal Stevenson scored the first run of the game for the Huskies in the 1st inning after he led off with a walk and advanced to 3rd on a single and HBP. Catcher Dominic Miroglio then grounded out scoring Stevenson. Rochester took the lead back in the 4th inning off of Mark Contreras’ two-run homerun. They then added two more runs in the 6th when shortstop Adam Walton notched a two-run double scoring Ryan Summers and Cole Krzmarzick.

The Huskies tied the game up in the 7th when Cal Stevenson and Matt McLaughlin both reached on base with singles. First baseman Alex Wojciechowski later singled to right scoring both Stevenson and McLaughlin. The Honkers captured the lead for good in the 8th inning after Cole Krzmarzick led off with a single and later scored on an RBI single from catcher Dempsey Grover.

Alex Wojciechowski led the way for the Huskies going 2 for 5 with two RBI’s. Mark Contreras and Adam Walton highlighted the day for the Honkers with each collecting two-RBI hits. Patrick Duester was the winning pitcher for the Honkers while Jordan Cummings was the losing pitcher for the Huskies.

The Huskies are back at Wade Stadium tomorrow where they will have a doubleheader at noon and 6:35 against the Thunder Bay Border Cats.
