Duluth, Minn. — The Duluth Huskies (6-6) put their 6th win in the win column on Sunday with a 5-1 over the Wisconsin Woodchucks.
The Huskies and Woodchucks started the game off slow only racking up one hit in the first 2 innings combined. But in the 3rd inning the Woodchucks catcher Mason Fishback started off with a homerun, giving the Woodchucks a quick 1-0 lead. That homerun would be Huskies pitcher Mitch Bauer’s only earned run of the game. Bauer ended the game with only one earned run and three strikeouts in 7 solid innings of pitching.
The Huskies finally scored in the 5th inning thanks to Danny Lee’s sacrifice fly to score Elijah Dilday. Nick Valaika followed up with a single that scored Jean Figueroa. The Huskies would score another three runs in the bottom of the 6th inning and would not look back for the rest of the game. Elijah Dilday, Jean Figueroa, and Danny Lee were the only Huskies to end the night with multiple hits. But the Huskies racked up eleven hits altogether in a great team effort to beat the Woodchucks.
The Huskies will be back at Wade Stadium Tuesday, July 14th, at 6:35 to start a two game series against the Green Bay Bullfrogs.
