The Duluth Huskies add two more players to the 2016 roster. Mitch Reeves (Florida Southern) and Carter Hanford (Jefferson College) will both travel north for a summer of Northwoods League baseball at Wade Stadium.
Mitch Reeves, a Winter Springs, FL native, is competing in his junior season for Florida Southern. The third baseman has played 42 games for the Mocs and has been one of the most productive batters at the plate. Reeves is averaging .366 at the plate (second among regular starters) as well as ranking in the top three in many categories with 63 hits (2), 42 RBIs (2), 8 home runs (T-2), and 45 runs (3). Before his time at Florida Southern, Mitch spent time at Seminole State College as a sophomore and High Point University in North Carolina as a freshman.
Carter Hanford, a St. Louis, MO, native, is currently playing his sophomore season at Jefferson College. The third baseman has played 52 games for the Vikings while averaging .353 with 49 RBIs. Hanford also ranks within the top three on the team with 39 walks (1), 63 runs (2), and 66 hits (3). This follows a great freshman campaign where Carter lead the team in runs, hits, triples (tied), RBIs (tied), and batting average while finishing second in doubles, home runs (tied), and walks.
The Huskies open the 2016 season on the road and return to Wade Stadium on Saturday, June 4th for their home opener against the Mankato MoonDogs.
