Huskies Sweep Willmar Stingers

The Duluth Huskies (2-0) sweep the Willmar Stingers (0-2) in the series finale.

The Stingers jumped off to an early lead in the bottom of the 2nd with Cole Gray scoring. Then in the 6th the Huskies took advantage of 2 wild pitches and an error to score 2. With Carter Hanford on 3rd, Mitch Reeves crushes a homerun, increasing the Huskies lead to 4-1. Stingers score 1 in the bottom of the 7th on a double by Quincy McAfee cutting the lead to 2. In the 8th Mitch Reeves hits a double, putting him in scoring position. Grant Farley advances to 1st on an error, while Reeves scores, furthering the lead. Stingers make an effort in the bottom of the 9th, but fall just short with a final score of 5-4.

Martin Alcoverde gets the win with a strong start with 5IP, 3H, 0BB, and 3SO. Kevin Stocke relieved Alcoverde in the 6th, pitching 2 innings while striking out 2 batters. Alex Fereguson comes in the top of the 8th for 1.2 innings. Trevino Rodriguez gets the save to finish the game to get the last out.

The Huskies travel to Thunder Bay on Thursday for a two game series, first pitch is set for 7:05.
