The Duluth Huskies improve to an 8 and 9 record after beating the Rochester Honkers (5-11) 4-3 with a comeback in the 9th.

The Honkers jumped to an early lead in the bottom of the 1st scoring 2.  By the 3rd inning the Huskies put 1 on the board with Logan Browning’s first homerun of the season, putting the score at 2-1. With a homerun from Alex Fitchett, the Honkers would add 1 more to their lead in the bottom of the 4th. In the 9th, the Huskies really got their bats going starting with a single from Justin Ambrosino. There were 2 different wild pitches, which would advance Ambrosino to 3rd for Carter Hanford. On his last strike, Hanford hit a single to center field, scoring 1. Matt Brown would also hit his first homerun of the season, taking the lead for the first time during the game. The Honkers effort would fall short in the bottom of the 9th, leaving the score at 4-3 for a Huskies win.

Ryan Tapani tossed 5 innings with 5 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Reid Long came in to pitch for 1 inning with 0 hits, 0 runs, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Payton Robinson earned the win for the Huskies tossing 3 innings with 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Houston Glad made the start for the Honkers pitching 7 innings with 5 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, and 4 strikeouts. Sam Bjorngjeld received the loss for the Honkers tossing 2 innings with 3 hits, 3 runs, 0 walks, and 1 strikeout.

The Huskies will face the Honkers for the final game of the series Friday night in Rochester. They will continue their road trip to St. Cloud for Saturday and Sunday. The Huskies will be back at home Tuesday, June 21st to take on the Wisconsin Woodchucks for West Duluth Business night.
