The Duluth Huskies (11-11) swept the Wisconsin Woodchucks (10-10) in Wednesday’s series finale.

The Woodchucks struck first scoring 1 in the top of the 1st, but the Huskies responded quickly by scoring 1 in the bottom of the 1st. Then a pitcher’s duel began until the Huskies scored 2 in the bottom of the 6th on a sacrifice fly from Matt Brown and a single from Carter Hanford. By the bottom of the 7th the Huskies really started moving scoring 4. The Huskies didn’t stop there, in the bottom of the 8th they scored 2 on a double from Justin Ambrosino and a single from Dillion Paulson despite a brief rain delay. After the delay the final score was 9-1 Huskies, allowing the Huskies to sweep the 2 game series with the Woodchucks.

Dan Loats started for the Huskies tossing 5 innings allowing 4 hits with 1 run, 3 walks, and 8 strikeouts. It would be Corey Gaconi who earned the win for the Huskies tossing 1 inning with 1 strikeout. Quentin Longrie pitched 2 innings with 2 hits, 1 walk, and 5 strikeouts. Trevino tossed the last inning of the game, allowing 1 hit with 1 strikeout. Connor Hock started for the Woodchucks pitching 5 innings with 6 hits, 1 run, 0 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Joey Steele received the loss for the Woodchucks going 1 inning with 3 hits, 2 runs, 0 walks, 0 strikeouts.

The Huskies continue their 6-game home stand Thursday against the Mankato MoonDogs. The Huskies will be sporting their Superior Blues for Superior Business Night.
