The Duluth Huskies (16-16) swept the Wisconsin Woodchucks (13-18) Friday night in Wausau, Wisconsin.

The game started off slow with no one scoring until the bottom of the 3rd. The Woodchucks put up 3 on singles from Steele Walker, Steve Passatempo, and Austin Blakeley. Mitch Reeves started the top of the 5th for the Huskies with a single. Reeves later scored with Daniel Amaral getting on with a fielder’s choice. The Huskies continued to trail until the top of the 7th with a massive 2-run homerun from Matt Brown, to tie the Woodchucks at 3. Then Carter Hanford hit an RBI single to score Liam Sabino in the top of the 8th for the first lead of the night for the Huskies. In the top of the 9th, Austin Bernard scored on a double from Logan Browning to add to the Huskies lead. The Woodchucks had a big inning in the bottom of the 9th scoring 2 on a wild pitch and a single to score 2 to tie the game for the second time. For the top of the 10th, the Huskies came back swinging scoring 3 to take back the lead and ultimately win.

Riley Gates was the starter for the Huskies tossing 3 innings allowing 5 hits with 3 runs, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Trevino Rodriguez came in to relieve Gates, tossing 4 innings with 1 hit, 0 runs, 0 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Wade Regas pitched 1.1 innings with 3 hits and 2 runs. Tossing 1.2 innings, Quentin Longrie receives the win for finishing for the Huskies with 2 hits, 0 runs, 1 walk, and 1 strikeout. Starter for the Woodchucks, Scott Parker, went 6.1 innings with 8 hits, 3 runs, 1 walk, and 6 strikeouts. Brandon Lambright made an appearance for the Woodchucks for 1.2 innings with 2 hits, 1 run, 0 walks, and 1 strikeout. Reliever, Evy Ruibal receives the loss for the Woodchucks after tossing 2 innings allowing 4 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks, and 1 strikeout.

The Huskies are back in action Saturday and Sunday to face the Rochester Honkers at Mayo Field. The Huskies will return to Wade Stadium on Monday, July 4 to battle the Willmar Stingers.
